Product Information

An outstanding Geum with red-shaded blooms with flashes of fiery orange, in a semi-double shape – a true delight!

Flowering for months from late spring into summer, this perennial boasts strong purple-tinged, near black, stems that emerge from a clumped plant of soft-to-the-touch and dark green leaves, holding a dangling flowerhead.

An array of impressive petals form around yellow-brown stamens, overlapping to mirror a frilled look. The flowers first emerge and appear to nod forwards when young, before sitting upright in maturity.

A real problem-solver for adding fascination to the front of a border, while also looking striking in patio pots, or a mixed display in a container.

Supplied as an established plant in a 9cm pot, ready for planting.

Care Information

Planting Advice:

  • Before planting, prepare the soil by digging over and removing any weeds. Incorporate some well-rotted manure to enrich the soil if necessary.
  • Knock the plant from its container. Look at the roots – if they are circling around the compost, it is best to tease them out. To do this, push your fingers into the root ball along the bottom edge and pull. Do this in a couple of places. This should encourage the roots to spread into the surrounding soil.
  • Next use a trowel or spade to create a hole just deep and wide enough to set in the root ball.
The aim is to bury just the roots, leaving the bases of the stems, when in growth in summer, or springtime shoots above ground.
  • Firm back around the soil, using your hand for small clumps and your heel on larger areas.
  • Water in well to settle the soil and prevent desiccation.

Aftercare Advice:

  • Prefers compost-enriched soil that stays moist. If planting straight out, keep well-watered until established.
  • They need minimal maintenance and are also generally pest and disease resistant.
