Cut back in late autumn for bigger and better displays the following season.

Care Information

  • Well-drained soil and a sunny or partially shaded position are essential for best results.
  • Only plant outside when all risk of frost has passed, then water well once initially planted.
  • Be sure not to overwater, as Anemone resent wet ground - partially during the winter months.
  • To improve the soil condition before planting, add compost, or well-rotted manure.  
  • Avoid moving the plant as it resents disturbance and can sulk for years!
  • If you need to, lift and divide clumps in autumn or early spring.
  • Easy to grow it may be slow to establish, but once it has you can virtually leave it alone.
  • Cut back the stalks after after the flowers have faded, and tidy up old dead leaves in March, then mulch well.
  • Hardy Japanese Anemone die back underground in the winter, but will emerge with fresh blooms in the new season.
