Product Information

Spark some much needed life into those cold and dark days with this fantastic collection of three winter flowering clematis.

Plant these beauties and enjoy months of colourful flowers between November and May – the period of the year when most gardens are starting to look tired.

Each of these three varieties boast lush and dark green foliage, which erupt with outstanding colour for months.

Beautiful and dainty nodding blooms break out during the colder months to add interest to any garden, whether trailed up a trellis or fence, or planted in a feature pot on the patio or balcony.

These three varieties are easy to care for, making them ideal for even less experienced gardeners, or those with less time on their hands.

Supplied as three established plants in 7/9cm pots, ready to plant out, including one each of:

  • Clematis cirrhosa ‘Wisley Cream’ 9cm – Enjoy a show of beautifully delicate and creamy bell-shaped winter flowers, which appear from December through to February. These flowers nod like bells on a background of dark green and lobed evergreen leaves. The flowers also provide an early source of nectar, making this variety perfect for attracting bees and other pollinators. Proud holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Grows up to H400cm x W150cm.
  • Clematis ‘Early Sensation’ 7/9cm – An evergreen clematis with green and divided leaves that emerge with striking bronze tints for an early display of colour. From March to May, clusters of delicate, nodding, and cupped flowers appear in a pure-white shade with a greenish-yellow centre. Grows up to H400cm x W150cm.
  • Clematis ‘Evergreen Freckles’ 7/9cm – A vigorous climber with highly attractive and triple-lobed, dark green leaves that shine with a bronze glow throughout the winter months. Pale yellow flowers with maroon speckles, inspiring the name, are produced during a long flowering period, from November to May, followed by attractive and silky seed heads. Grows up to H250cm x W100cm. Proud holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Top Tips

Plant with the crown of the plant 5-8cm deep to encourage new shoots to grow from below ground level.

Clematis like a cool ‘root run’ so plant deep enough for the roots to be shaded. If you are planting in a sunny position, place some pieces of slate or flat stones on the soil after planting or use groundcover plants to keep the roots cool.

Care Information

  • Feed in spring with a general-purpose feed, avoiding the stems. Mulch immediately afterwards with organic matter such as well-rotted manure, leaf mould or garden compost.
  • Water regularly during periods of dry weather in the first few seasons after planting, especially for container plants.
  • Clematis in pots should be given a liquid feed through the summer and early autumn.
  • No regular pruning is required, but if necessary, prune immediately after flowering when the danger of frost has passed. Cut new plants back to just above a strong pair of leaf buds about 30cm above soil level to encourage multiple stems.
  • Established plants just need overlong branches trimming back and any dead or winter-damaged shoots pruned back to a pair of healthy buds.
